YORKSHIRE based Orchard Care Homes has become the first private healthcare company to adopt the revolutionary new cleaning and disinfectant product, DIFFICIL-S®
Orchard Care Homes has introduced DIFFICIL-S® - the latest weapon in the war against the superbugs - into its 54 homes across the UK. This new disinfectant and cleaning solution represents a massive breakthrough in combating pathogens such as Clostridium difficile (C-diff), MRSA and Tuberculosis. It has also proved lethal to many other deadly viruses and bacteria including HIV, Hepatitis Salmonella, Norovirus and E.coli.
Developed by scientists at Clinimax Ltd in Bury St Edmunds and distributed by Rose Hygiene Products, DIFFICIL-S® has been given a Level 2 Recommendation from the Department of Health Rapid Review Panel. This low cost, safe and easy-to-use liquid solution is currently being fast tracked into clinical trials throughout the country with Orchard Care Homes becoming the first private sector operator to begin using the Superbug-buster.
Chris Davy, Head of International Technical Development, of Clinimax Ltd said: “This is a brilliant medical breakthrough, which will benefit all people throughout the world. It is highly effective, easy to use and low cost, but most importantly, will save thousands of lives whilst saving billions in preventing the spread of infectious viruses and bacteria.” He continues “These tough microscopic structures are impervious to most cleaning chemicals. The active components of DIFFICIL-S® is Chlorine Dioxide. This broad based spectrum disinfectant and cleaner is specifically designed for use on all hard surfaces including floors and all work surfaces”
“It can be safely used in most working environments without having to vacate the room and serves as both a daily dual purpose cleaner and a disinfectant.”
“We are very excited with this new partnership with Orchard, and look to the future”
Linda Green, Head of Care at Orchard Care Homes added: “DIFFICIL-S® is a truly revolutionary product and it will make a huge difference to our homes. Elderly people are one of the most vulnerable groups of all and this will be a vital weapon in the battle against spreading these potentially fatal bacteria and viruses.
“I am greatly encouraged that something that could save so many lives has been developed and manufactured in the UK we are proud to be the first company to use it.”
Jamin Wilson, Managing Director of Rose Hygiene Products, said: "We have a long-standing supply partnership with Orchard Care Homes - and as soon as this product became available I felt sure that Orchard would be keen to introduce it. We are providing a Training package to support the product, in order to ensure that Orchard Care staff achieve the maximum benefit from it."
