DIFFICIL-S® COMPATIBILITY WITH POLYPROPYLENE CARPETS

DIFFICIL-S® compatibility with polypropylene carpets

Compatibility of DIFFICIL-S® with polypropylene carpets was tested using the danfloor Uk Ltd range of carpets and shown to have NO bleaching action on the carpet.

Testing was carried out on carpet using DIFFICIL-S® in the water reservoir of a floor-cleaning machine and showed a very substantial reduction in bacterial count after cleaning.

DIFFICIL-S® working solution can be used at a reduced dilution rate of 20% which is added to COLD water in the reservoir of carpet-cleaning equipment  eg. Duplex or Rotowash machines.

It is recommended that the carpets be thoroughly vacuumed before the carpet is treated with DIFFICIL-S® in a floor-cleaning machine.  Always use the machine according to the manufacturer's instructions.  The carpet does not need to be rinsed after application with DIFFICIL-S®.

Potentially infective spillage (eg. blood, faeces, vomit etc) should be contained with absorbent granules and then thoroughly wetted with full-strength DIFFICIL-S® using the 500ml bottles provided.  Again, the carpet does not need to be rinsed after application but the treated area should be allowed to remain wet for 5 minutes for effective eradication of pathogens present in the carpet.  After this time, if required, the carpet can be dried.

In normal circumstances, the carpet should be touch-dry within 5 minutes and will take around 20 minutes to completely dry.  These are estimates only and are dependent on both the room temperature and weight of the carpet pile.

It is recommended that a small section of the carpet be treated with DIFFICIL-S® in an inconspicuous area prior to treating the whole carpet.  However, safe removal and in-activation of infective material must take priority over any colour change to the carpet for the health, safety and well-being of both patients and staff.
